The long wait for answers in the shocking Kitengela nightclub shooting is finally over.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has wrapped up its probe into the January 25, 2026 bloodbath at C&M Lounge and dropped a bombshell: five suspects, including a senior DCI officer, should be charged with murder and attempted murder.
One man is dead. Another is still recovering in hospital. And now the full weight of the law is closing in.
In the early hours of that fateful Sunday morning, chaos erupted inside the popular Kitengela entertainment spot in Kajiado County. Kevin Shephashina Maseli was gunned down. His companion, Joseph Kasio, was left fighting for his life after being shot.
Media reports at the time pointed to a heated altercation involving a senior DCI officer who allegedly opened fire during the drama. Initial claims even suggested the officer later claimed he was responding to armed robbers – but the official investigation tells a different story of accountability.
From day one, detectives moved like lightning.
– A crack team led by Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) Isinya stormed the scene, secured it, and recovered spent cartridges and other key evidence.
– On January 26, elite forensic experts from the National Forensic Laboratory – ballistics, imaging, acoustics, and crime scene gurus – descended on the lounge. They combed every inch, analysed available CCTV footage, and gathered damning additional evidence.
– Three firearms voluntarily surrendered by persons under investigation were rushed for ballistic testing. The report is now in.
– Eleven individuals recorded statements.
The probe was meticulous, swift, and ironclad.

On February 2, 2026, SCCIO Isinya personally delivered the duplicate investigation file, comprehensive brief, and clear recommendations to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Kajiado.
The charges?
Murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code in respect of the late Kevin Shephashina Maseli.
Attempted murder contrary to Section 220 of the Penal Code in respect of Joseph Kasio, who was still admitted in hospital at the time.
In today’s strongly-worded press statement signed by J.K. Marete, HSC, for the Director of Criminal Investigations, the DCI made its position crystal clear:
“The Directorate remains steadfast in its commitment to the pursuit of justice, the upholding of the rule of law, and the protection of every citizen’s right to a fair and impartial investigation.”
The file now sits with the ODPP. Charging decisions are imminent.
This is no ordinary club shooting. It’s a high-profile case that has gripped Kajiado and Nairobi, raising serious questions about accountability within law enforcement itself.
