The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has intensified Kenya’s war against terrorism and illicit financial networks by launching a high-level, multi-agency training programme aimed at sharpening prosecutorial expertise in handling complex terror-related cases.
The specialized training, targeting prosecutors and key players across the criminal justice system, focuses on strengthening responses to terrorism and terrorist financing—two of the most intricate and evolving threats facing national and regional security.
Speaking during the launch, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions and Coast Deputy Regional Head, Tito Wanga, described the initiative as both timely and strategic in reinforcing the country’s legal preparedness against emerging security risks.
“This programme is critical in equipping our prosecutors with the skills and knowledge required to effectively tackle the dynamic nature of terrorism and related financial crimes,” Wanga said, underscoring the growing sophistication of terror networks and the urgent need for equally advanced prosecutorial approaches.
The training adopts a multi-sectoral approach, bringing together law enforcement agencies, financial intelligence units, and other justice sector stakeholders to foster collaboration across the entire justice chain—from investigation to prosecution and conviction.
