Police in Nakuru are investigating an incident where former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala was roughed up at an exclusive nightclub in Nakuru and his vehicle vandalized.
The incident occured when on Friday night the club deejay announced Malala’s arrival thereby prompting anti-government shouts from a section of revellers.
In a video clip that has gone viral on social media a bulky individual then hurls himself at Malala who shoves back and in the melee that ensues the former Senator is restrained while his adversary appears to lose his footing. Unfounded claims have attributed the assailant to a senior State House operative whom our investigations have revealed was not even in Nakuru during the time of the incident.

The police OB report indicates that Malala was attacked by unknown individuals inside the nightclub. His ride, a four-wheel-drive Toyota Land Cruiser was also vandalized in the fracas and has since been towed to Nakuru Central Police Station as investigations continue.
The former Senator is said to have been visibly shaken by the attack which he attributed to his fallout with the State.
Recently Malala was hounded out of office as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Secretary General.
Last week he was in the limelight again as the author of a play that has generated disconcertment between authorities and thespians from Butere Girls’ High School.
An eyewitness to the incident recounted to the media that: “He had just walked into the club when the deejay announced his presence. Some revelers started singing anti-government songs, which seemed to anger others. In the confusion, he was attacked and his vehicle was damaged outside.”
The police have stated that the motive for the attack is yet-to-be-known. The club management has been interrogated but no arrest made.
