Energy CS James Opiyo Wandayi has strongly criticized politicians who have indicated opposition for the broadbased government.
Wandayi said the Ruto-led government has made significant strides in improving the quality of life for Kenyans and urged the public to support government initiatives for even greater growth.
While addressing residents of his Ugunja Constituency on Sunday, the CS said that if provided with a chance to choose between Ruto and opposition figureheads Kalonzo Musyoka, Rigathi Gachagua or even Fred Matiang’i, he would gladly choose Ruto.
“If you give me a choice between Gachagua, Kalonzo, Matiang’i …etc on one side and President William Ruto on the other side, I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that I will go with Ruto any day any time,” said a buoyant Wandayi.
Less than eight months ago during the anti-Finance Bill protests, James Opiyo Wandayi said president Ruto was not honest in his development agenda [evidence in Hansard of the Kenya National Assembly].
He now calls out the opposition for pretending to offer a chance for change and transformation when they had failed to do so when they occupied very senior government positions.
The CS was full of praise for the broad-based government, saying the pact between Ruto and Raila is bound to set the economy on an upward trajectory.
“The broad-based government has made great efforts to turn around the economy of this country and to make life more bearable for the citizens,” declared Wandayi.
Meanwhile, critics of the Ruto-Raila pact have pointed out that the main benefit being felt in the liaison was that a few experts absorbed into government from ODM Party now had an opportunity to loot.
According to a Sunday gossip column in one of Kenya’s leading dailies one of the two Cabinet Secretaries from ODM Party had transformed into an instant millionaire, in under two months, allegedly purchasing a KES 100 million property on River Road Nairobi in hard cash.
Energy CS James Opiyo Wandayi has also indicated interest in succeeding James Aggrey Bob Orengo as Siaya Governor.
Political pundits speculate that in expecting to unseat Orengo, Wandayi, whose political star is just beginning to shine, has taken up a tall order.
Outside Ugunja Constituency and within ODM Party ranks, Wandayi is relatively unknown as compared to Orengo who is an international brand.
The race for the Siaya County gubernatorial seat has also attracted political upstarts Charles Owino Wahongo and Samuel Onunga Atandi.
The Ugenya MP and MDG Party leader David Ochieng has also indicated that he may enter the fray.
