Kenya’s Head of State Dr William Samoei Ruto on Sunday July 6,2025 made an impassioned plea to religious leaders to join hands in prayer and invoke God’s intervention to fight what he described as dark forces behind Kenya’s recent unrest.
Speaking at a church service at the ACK Diocese of Embu, Ruto called on Christian leaders and people of faith to unite in spiritual combat against forces he feels are responsible for the violence, destruction, and social upheavals.
“I want to humbly request religious leaders, especially Christian leaders and others, to unite and pray fervently for our nation so that the evil spirit causing violence, destruction of property, confusion, and unrest may be defeated in our beloved country, Kenya,” President Ruto said.
President Ruto reiterated that Kenya‘s future is in peace and stability and called for unity and shared responsibility in building a better nation.
“We desire a peaceful country,” he said. “ It is only then that we can make progress and bring about meaningful change to our nation.”
He thanked the people of Embu for their warm hospitality and promised to return, noting the region’s strong potential for growth and development.

“Thank you very much for welcoming me here in Embu. I will return soon because of the developmental matters concerning this area. I wish you all blessings and prosperity,” the President said.
