Kasarani police are investigating a perplexing incident of murder where a 66-year-old man was found murdered and his body burnt next to his house in Marurui area of Kasarani, Nairobi County.
Allan Kioko Kitavi was identified as a lecturer at the Kenya Power and Lighting Company Training School in Nairobi. Police are yet-to-determine the motive of the brutal murder.
According to family sources Kitavi left the house sometime after 5:00 PM to go purchase items at the estate shopping centre on Thursday 31 July, 2025.
When he had not returned by 10:00 PM anxious family members went out to search for him since it was unusual for him to stay out late.
A few meters from the house the body of Kitavi was found sprawled out on the walkway and partially burnt.
Preliminary reports by the police indicate that the body was doused in fire after the victim had died.
Allan Kioko Kitavi is said to have led a quiet life and family and friends are perplexed what could have triggered the murder in a fashion akin to the perpetrators sending out a message.
Why burn the body after killing him?
Detectives have confirmed that investigations are ongoing. The body was moved to the morgue pending an autopsy.
