A ruthless masked gang’s reign of terror in Garissa has been dealt a major blow after law enforcement officers smoked out a 37-year-old woman linked to a violent armed robbery — recovering a Glock 17 pistol stolen from the victim.
On the night of August 5, 2025, the victim, a licensed firearm holder, was heading home from a mosque in Bulla Buris when three masked thugs struck. One was armed with an AK-47, another with a pistol, and the third wielded a rungu. A vicious blow to the head knocked him unconscious. Moments later, his Glock 17 and cash were gone.
Swift investigations and forensic tracking led officers to the suspect’s hideout in Madogo. Cornered, she led police to her house in Bula Kartasi, where a search uncovered:
A Glock 17 loaded with 17 live rounds

A pistol holster
A military smoke jacket
A service-colour belt
11 passports belonging to different individuals
Other incriminating items
The suspect, identified as Mumeni Nguma, is in custody pending arraignment, as police intensify the hunt for the rest of the gang still at large.
