Kenya Power has announced that parts of Kisumu County will experience a scheduled power outage on Saturday, August 23, 2025, as part of routine maintenance.

According to a notice issued on Friday, the blackout will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting several areas, including Rosa Garden, Koru Bible, Kandege, Kipsamwe, Center, Ushirika Market, and surrounding customers.

The utility firm said the outage is necessary to enhance network reliability and improve power supply in the region.

This comes just a week after Kenya Power explained how varying tariff categories impact the cost of electricity for consumers.

Under the Domestic 1 (lifeline) tariff, households consuming fewer than 30 units per month pay Ksh12.23 per unit before taxes, while those in Domestic 2 (30–100 units) pay Ksh16.45 per unit. Heavy users in Domestic 3 (101–15,000 units) are charged Ksh19.02 per unit.

Kenya Power urged customers in affected areas to make necessary arrangements for the planned interruption.
