KAKAMEGA, Sept 8 — Senator Boni Khalwale has sensationally accused Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya of allegedly engaging in an affair with Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda, igniting a political and social storm in the county.
Alleged Marriage Interference
Khalwale claimed that Muhanda — who also serves in Oparanya’s office — abandoned her matrimonial home shortly after Oparanya’s Cabinet appointment and is now allegedly cohabiting with him. Her estranged husband has further accused the CS of abusing his influence to interfere with their marriage.
Khalwale Goes Public

The fiery senator went public with the allegations, branding Oparanya’s alleged conduct as “immoral and unbecoming of a senior government official.” Neither Oparanya nor Muhanda has publicly addressed the claims.
Political Storm Brewing
The accusations land at a time of heightened political rivalry in Kakamega, with opposing camps quickly seizing on the controversy to either shield or discredit their leaders. The unfolding saga is expected to deepen divisions within the county’s political landscape.
