Siaya Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo has scored a major win ahead of the inaugural Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference (SITICO 2025) after securing a Ksh 5 million sponsorship deal from the Local Authorities Pension Trust (LAPFUND).
In a high-level meeting at LAPFUND’s Nairobi headquarters today, Governor Orengo and LAPFUND’s top brass cemented a partnership that positions the pension fund as a Silver Sponsor for the October 14–17 event.
Led by Galm Jaldesa, General Manager for Strategy and Planning, LAPFUND pledged to work closely with Siaya, with a keen interest in housing and other high-impact projects. Jaldesa, flanked by senior managers, praised Siaya for its timely contributions to the retirement benefits scheme and described SITICO as a game-changing platform.

“Siaya County is showing what devolution can achieve by creating platforms where the private sector, government, and communities co-create prosperity. We are proud to stand with Siaya as anchor partners for SITICO 2025,” Jaldesa said during the cheque handover.

Governor Orengo welcomed the support, framing it as more than just financial backing.
“Our partnership with LAPFUND is a shared commitment to empower farmers, women, and youth, and to make Siaya a centre of inclusive and sustainable growth. SITICO 2025 will showcase this vision to the world,” Orengo declared.

The Governor was accompanied by senior county officials, including County Secretary Joseph Ogutu, CECM Trade and Investment Grace Agola, Acting Finance boss George Nyingiro, and Chief of Staff Rtd. Col. Cyrus Oguna.
Also present were Governance, ICT and Administration CS Agunda Ochanda and Chief Officer Agriculture & Livestock Dr Elizabeth Adongo.
The upcoming SITICO 2025 is expected to attract investors, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore bankable projects, seal deals in themed pavilions, and shape policies to accelerate Siaya’s transformation agenda.
