Police in Siaya have launched an intensive search for a 35-year-old Bodaboda rider accused of committing the gruesome crime of defiling and killing two youngsters in Ulafu sub-location of Alego-Usonga Constituency.
The suspect, identified as Maurice Obundo, is reported to have lured the two children into his house on Saturday evening before attacking them in what authorities describe as a chilling and premeditated act.
According to villagers and local administrators, Obundo had been separated from his wife for several months but would occasionally host his children during scheduled visits.
On the day of the incident, his 11-year-old daughter had gone to see him, accompanied by a friend.
Investigators allege that during this visit, the suspect defiled both children before violently attacking them with a sharp object, leaving one dead at the scene and fatally injuring the other.
Obundo’s daughter reportedly died on the spot, while her friend was rescued alive but later succumbed to severe injuries while being rushed to hospital.
Police officers visited the crime scene and later transferred the bodies to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and post-mortem examinations.

Confirming the incident, Umala Sub-location Assistant Chief Rachel Meso said the suspect fled immediately after the attack and remains at large.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could lead to Obundo’s arrest, warning that he may still pose a serious danger.
“This is a deeply disturbing case involving extreme violence against minors,” a police source said, adding that officers are pursuing multiple leads to track down the suspect.
The incident has sent shockwaves across Siaya County, with residents expressing outrage and grief over the brutal killing of children by a parent who was expected to protect them.
Local leaders and child rights activists have renewed calls for stronger child protection mechanisms, closer monitoring of domestic disputes, and swift justice for victims of sexual and gender-based violence.
As the manhunt continues, families in the area remain on edge, hoping for the swift arrest of the suspect and justice for the two young lives lost in one of Siaya’s most disturbing crimes in recent memory.
