NAIROBI 13TH JUNE, 2025: Former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta today encouraged young scholars to become architects of global change, urging them to harness their talents to transform lives and pursue excellence in all endeavors.

Speaking to 170 graduating students at Brookhouse School’s 17th graduation ceremony at the Karen Campus, the former First Lady said “You have learned to leverage your talents; not just for personal success, but to build a better world by contributing your gifts and brilliant minds to the world.”

In her address, Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta celebrated the Class of 2025’s remarkable achievements including the over 40% of graduates earning scholarships to prestigious global universities while painting a vision of their future role in society. “I see a bold generation rising, one ready to question the status quo, reimagine the future, and confront injustices. Your brilliance must drive innovation, experiment with new ideas, and help build the kinder world we so desperately need” she said.

The former First Lady highlighted how Brookhouse’s holistic education had prepared graduates for this mission, noting their development of critical thinking, compassion, and respect for diversity through the school’s Round Square values. She pointed to their environmental initiatives in Oloolua Forest and community service projects as evidence of their readiness to tackle global challenges.

“Go forth and shine. Wherever life takes you, let your light transform the world.” She concluded.

The ceremony, attended by delighted parents, faculty, and distinguished guests, marked a milestone for the 140 graduates, who now join an alumni network of leaders and changemakers.

United Nations Office in Nairobi Director-General Zainab Bangura echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the graduates’ potential to address pressing global issues. “Be productive, there’s nothing you can’t do because Brookhouse has given you the foundation, the confidence and resilience” she remarked, urging the graduates to carry forward both their academic excellence and commitment to service.

Brookhouse School Director Mr. John O’Connor celebrated the graduating class and reminded them that they were responsible for the trajectory their lives would take, “You make the decisions and hopefully you find your purpose” he observed”.

As the ceremony concluded, the 170 graduates joined Brookhouse’s distinguished alumni network with a clear charge: to use their education as a force for positive change in an increasingly complex world.
