The Defence Forces Recruit Training School (DFRTS) in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, today marked a major milestone as it officially received recruits for Cohort 01/25 in a colourful ceremony presided over by Brigadier Alphonce Ndar of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
Hundreds of eager recruits—comprising General Duty personnel alongside Tradesmen and Tradeswomen—reported to the school for the formal commencement of their military journey.
Addressing the recruits, Brigadier Ndar extended his best wishes as they embark on the challenging months ahead.
“I wish you nothing but success. Stay healthy, take care of yourselves, and approach your training with discipline and commitment,” he urged, emphasizing the importance of resilience and focus.
The intake process includes a rigorous series of procedures—document verification, medical screening, biometric registration, issuance of kit, and a structured orientation—designed to prepare the recruits for the comprehensive foundational programme that defines the DFRTS training curriculum.
According to officials, this initial phase sets the tone for what lies ahead: intense physical conditioning, discipline instillation, field craft training, leadership development, and mastery of core soldiering skills. The programme is designed to mould civilians into highly capable and disciplined service members ready to serve Kenya with honour.
The event marks the beginning of a transformative chapter for the new recruits, as DFRTS continues its tradition of producing professional, mission-ready Kenyan soldiers committed to national security and service.
