Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking networks in Mombasa after arresting two suspected traffickers and seizing a massive 250 kilograms of cannabis sativa in a coordinated operation.

The high-stakes raid, driven by credible intelligence, first led officers to Port Reitz in Changamwe, where 43-year-old Tito Paul Mulu was apprehended. His arrest quickly exposed a wider network, pointing detectives to a second suspect, 23-year-old Oliver Ochieng, located in the Mudengereni area of Kisauni.

Under sustained interrogation, Ochieng reportedly guided investigators to his rented residence, where officers made a crucial discovery—two large sacks packed with cannabis sativa, believed to be destined for distribution within the coastal region and beyond.

Authorities have since secured the narcotics as key exhibits, while the suspects remain in custody awaiting formal charges and court proceedings.

The operation underscores ANU’s intensified war on narcotics, as law enforcement agencies ramp up efforts to dismantle drug syndicates threatening communities across the country. Officials say the seizure marks yet another step in curbing the flow of illegal substances along Kenya’s coastal corridor, a region often exploited by traffickers due to its strategic location.

Members of the public are being urged to support the fight against drugs by sharing information with authorities. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continues to encourage anonymous reporting through its toll-free hotline and WhatsApp platforms.

As the crackdown tightens, security agencies warn traffickers that the net is closing fast—signaling zero tolerance for the illicit drug trade.
