Fresh drama is rocking Ugunja Sub-County after Deputy County Commissioner J.B. Aluodo fired off explosive “show-cause” letters to all local chiefs, threatening them with disciplinary action for distributing government relief food.
In a strongly-worded letter dated 23 February 2026 and marked CONFIDENTIAL, Aluodo accuses the chiefs of “gross misconduct and abuse of office.” He claims they distributed food whose “origin and efficacy in terms of hygiene was not clear” without his authorisation, putting the public at risk.
The letter, seen by siayatoday.com, reads in part:
“You went ahead to mobilize other Chiefs for the same mysterious cause… this office considers this to be gross misconduct… you are immediately required to show-cause why such actions cannot be taken against you.”
But angry chiefs and residents are hitting back hard, calling the move pure harassment and a naked power grab.
“DCC Aluodo is out of order,” a senior administrator told us. “The chiefs received the relief food with full knowledge of the Interior docket. Even he knew about it. His only problem is that he wasn’t the one distributing so he could micro-manage and help himself – that’s the history we all know.”
The complaints go beyond food. Chiefs and land surveyors across Ugunja are reportedly fed up with endless delays in land board matters and what they describe as constant intimidation from the DCC’s office.
Residents are now demanding urgent intervention from Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo.
“We urge PS Omollo to step in immediately and protect our chiefs,” the calls read. “DCC Aluodo must be called to order before he completely paralyses service delivery in Ugunja.”
The letter was copied to the Siaya County Commissioner and carries the official stamp of the Deputy County Commissioner’s office, dated 24 February 2026.
As tension rises in Ugunja sub-county, questions are mounting: Is this legitimate oversight or just another case of a senior official blocking development to protect personal interests?
siayatoday.com is making efforts to reach out to DCC Aluodo for comment and will update this story as more details emerge.
