Former Rarieda MP Nicholas Odero Gumbo on Saturday made a scathing attack against the leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party accusing them of doublespeak.
In a press briefing held at Rarieda Constituency over the weekend, the plainspoken Gumbo said:
“I want to tell the ODM leadership to stop fooling Kenyans. They have consistently claimed that they are not part of the government, but we are witnessing a completely different reality.”
Engineer Gumbo added that while they are very vocal in denying integration into the government the ODM leadership was deeply in government and even rooting for more Principal Secretary slots.
“It is contradictory for the party to keep denying its participation in the government when many of its members are holding lucrative positions both in the executive branch and in parliament.”

Gumbo pointed at the oddity when acting party leader, Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, recently insisted that the party has not joined the government despite penning a cooperation agreement between them and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“Common sense dictates that the cooperation agreement that was signed between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga is clear proof that ODM is already in government,” Gumbo said emphatically.
In a merry-go-round fashion ODM leaders have maintained not being part of the government despite some of its senior members being tapped for the Cabinet Secretary positions.
Some of the recent nominees for the Principal Secretary slots are also closely linked to ODM leader Raila Amollo Odinga.
The former Rarieda MP trashed propaganda being peddled by certain leaders in Nyanza claiming that President Ruto will be a one-term president. Gumbo assured the naysayers that Ruto will win a second term with very little effort seeing that the greater parts of Nyanza and Central Kenya are behind him.
He urged residents of greater Nyanza to embrace the Kenya Kwanza administration and secure their place at the high-table of government.
“For those of you who think that William Ruto will be a one-term president, I urge you to start changing your mindset,” said Gumbo, adding “You will be surprised, especially us Luos. The earlier we accept this, the better it will be for the development of our region.”
