A chilling murder investigation is underway in Nyeri County after the severely mutilated body of an unidentified woman was discovered dumped in a farm along the Nyeri–Ngangarithi Road, sending shockwaves across Nyeri Central.
The grim discovery was made on Thursday morning when unsuspecting residents spotted a suspicious sack abandoned in a farm about three kilometres west of Nyeri Police Station. Upon inspection, they raised the alarm, prompting a swift response from police officers and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Preliminary findings paint a deeply disturbing picture. Authorities confirmed the body belonged to an adult woman whose remains had been horrifically mutilated. The victim’s head, hands, and legs had been severed, with all missing body parts unaccounted for despite an extensive search of the surrounding area.
Investigators now believe the woman may have been murdered elsewhere before her torso was transported and dumped at the site, concealed inside a sack.
“The condition of the body suggests the killing did not occur at the scene,” a police source revealed, adding that the remains were not fresh—raising fears the murder may have taken place days before the discovery.
The body has since been moved to the Nyeri County Referral Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to shed light on the cause of death and provide crucial forensic leads.
Detectives are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry, including the possibility of premeditated murder and efforts to conceal the victim’s identity.
Police have appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the deceased or unraveling the circumstances surrounding the brutal killing.
“This is a heinous crime. We are committed to ensuring those responsible are brought to justice,” authorities said.
The incident adds to a disturbing pattern of gruesome murders in the country involving mutilation and body disposal in remote locations—cases that often pose significant challenges for investigators due to delayed discovery and missing identifiers.
As detectives intensify the manhunt, residents of Nyeri remain on edge, grappling with the horror of a crime that has shattered the calm of the central town.
