“I’m Annointed to Lead Kenya” — Peter Salasya Tells Empty Streets
Spread the love

After a vigorous campaign that often saw Mumias East legislator Peter Kalerwa Salasya addressing empty streets, today the MP took to his X handle and declared that he has God’s anointing to lead the nation of Kenya.

“I am the anointed one to lead us forward,” Salasya wrote, adding “I, Hon. Peter Kalerwa Salasya, Member of Parliament for Mumias East Constituency, officially declare my intention to vie for the Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the 2027 General Elections.”

On April 28, 2025 , the first-term MP promised Kenyans that he will be vying on a new political movement ticket. He also said the movement will not be based on tribal alliances and money.

“This movement’s name and leadership will be unveiled in due course, and it will not be built on tribal alliances or money power, but on people power.”

His enticing manifesto includes an audit of healthcare funding and entrenching transparency and accountability in the the health system.

“I will restructure SHA to align with the real medical needs of Kenyans, not bureaucratic interests. We shall audit and clean up the NHIF legacy mess and guarantee transparency in healthcare funds,” he optimistically declared.

Salasya also promised to take a hard stance on corruption, describing it as “economic sabotage.”

“Every procurement will be done through a transparent, digital, and traceable system. Anti-corruption agencies will be empowered, and looters will be swiftly and justly held accountable,” he said.

Salasya has promised to expand and modernize Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, strengthen digital literacy, and ensure all government departments offer mandatory internships and graduate trainee programmes on education and youth empowerment.

“No degree should gather dust. No young dream should die due to hopelessness,” he stated.

Similarly, Salasya said he would establish a Gen Z Advisory Council to embed youth perspectives into national decision-making to bring young voices into governance.

“I will form the first-ever Gen Z Presidential Advisory Council to embed their voices in every national decision,” he added.

He also pledged to protect digital rights, civic freedoms, and freedom of expression, while committing to end police brutality and uphold judicial independence.

“Under my leadership, laws will apply fairly to all, regardless of status, tribe, or region,” Salasya said.

Meanwhile, as he details a very comprehensive and attractive manifesto his campaigns have failed to hold traction. In the coastal region he was often seen addressing empty streets and curious passersby.

The crowds that turn up are not reflective of a presidential campaign with most people coming to confirm his legendary erratic behavior than listen to his textbook manifesto.

Word on the grapevine has it that the 35-year-old Salasya’s campaigns are funded by the State to further divide the Luhya community. He has never come out to  refute the claims that a member of the president’s kitchen-cabinet funded him to the tune of KES 40 Million for the presidential campaigns.
