Siaya Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo has been subjected to intense praise by locals of his home-ground Ugenya.
The residents singled-out a good number of development projects in the locality including those accomplished in partnership with private sector players such as Safaricom Foundation.
Addressing reporters from the Directorate of Public Communication who are currently undertaking a countywide evaluation survey exercise Josephine Auma Otieno spoke highly of the Governor for spearheading ongoing expansion works at Nyangu Health Centre where she had gone to seek medical attention .
“As a woman am overjoyed with our Governor James Orengo for ensuring Nyangu Health facility is expanded to accommodate larger numbers of maternal mother’s thereby ensuring reduced cases of child mortality during birth.”

She also praised the governor for being thoughtful to alleviate perennial water shortages by sinking a borehole in Karadolo area.
“The road from Obet to Nyangu has been upgraded and now expectant mothers do not have to undergo a bumpy bodaboda ride to the facility,” she added.
Another resident Mama Julia Aoko who doubles as a Community Health Worker locally known as Nyamrerwa, heaped praise on the Governor for ensuring essential drugs are now available in the hospital. She, however, called on CGS to increase the supply ratio of anti-malaria drugs which she claimed normally run out before the next restocking circle owing to the prevalence of the disease in the region.
At Ugenya West it was all smiles as Luhano Bodaboda riders and Mama Mboga embraced the team and outlined a long litany of projects including improved roads and modern markets.
“We,however, have one request for the Governor,” said Maurice Otieno, “Tell him that Luhano Market needs high-mast lighting to boost security and enable traders to go for longer hours.”
Thomas Ooko from Magombe village said the availability of key county development projects right where people live have cutoff the lengthy and strenuous journey people used to make to Ukwala for essential services.
Mr William Omondi, a renowned trader said he was extremely impressed with the upgrading of Aboke and Bar-Oningo dispensaries. He pointed out that the murruming and culverting of Kawayo-Ulanda road had made communication to and from his home that much easier.
As they praised the Governor and the CGS for implementation and quick interventions whenever they are needed, they also mentioned the importance of Ugenya West MCAÂ Hon. Oduor Odongo and his counterpart from Ukwala Joseph Oduor, working in unison with the Nyalore administration.
“Such unity is a sure base for the people of Ugenya coming out en masse during the 2027 ballot, so that Orengo can complete his tremendous development agenda,” said William.
Meanwhile, residents of Ukwala Ward were delighted at the provision of an ambulance for the area health centre, availability of clean drinking borehole water at Kamrembo, Yenga, Simur, Doho, and Lifunga areas.
They also thanked the county government for the culvert on Draho-Lwero Road that made movement for traders and Bodaboda safe and smooth.
The County Government they noted had built a toilet and administration block at Lifunga ECDE.
Ukwala significantly has a number of CGS projects including the Obet Road, Otit-Obet and other tertiary murram roads.
The Ukwala Hospital Maternity wing is a completed landmark project at the sub-County Hospital with additional amenities such as an eye centre whose equipping is still ongoing.
Water borehole sunk at Kotulo and another at the sub-County headquarters which once completed will enhance service delivery to the people of Ukwala town and it’s environs.
Governor Orengo was also lauded for advancing millions of shillings to Sega market women in an small enterprise business empowerment scheme from which beneficiaries said their stocks had remarkably improved. Led by Mama Jackline Akinyi who is among Sega market traders they invited the Governor to come and witness for himself the amount of love for the developments they said have changed their lives coupled with other developments in road network, water and healthcare.
The women advised Governor James Orengo’s political rivals to hold their horses and let the Governor work for the betterment of lives of people of Siaya County as he had promised.
As the team traversed the county it emerged that Governor James Orengo’s economic blueprint has clearly defined development pillars specifically geared towards improving the living conditions of residents from all the six sub-Counties of Siaya.
