Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has issued a stern warning to county staff engaging in premature political campaigns, cautioning that such behavior undermines service delivery.
Speaking at the county headquarters, Lusaka gave public officers a one-week ultimatum to either resign and pursue their political ambitions or recommit to serving the people.
“We have given you public jobs to serve wananchi, not to spend time politicking and campaigning for yourselves or others,” said Lusaka.
The governor emphasized that early campaigns pose a serious setback to effective governance and vowed to dismiss any officer found defying the directive. Known for his no-nonsense leadership style, Lusaka made it clear that discipline in public service remains non-negotiable.
Strategic Cabinet Reshuffle
In the same address, Lusaka announced a major cabinet reorganization aimed at boosting efficiency and aligning roles with departmental priorities.
- Douglas Sasita, formerly the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Lands and Urban Planning, will now head the Department of Trade, Energy, and Industrialization.
- Dr. Monicah Fedha, who previously managed Trade and Energy, takes over Lands, Urban and Physical Planning.
- Sam Nalwa, Chief Officer for Education and Vocational Training, has been moved to Lands and Urban Planning.
- George Kombo, formerly Chief Officer for Lands and Physical Planning, now leads the Education docket.
According to Lusaka, the shake-up forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen service delivery and streamline operations across departments.

Now in his second term as county boss, Lusaka remains a key figure in Kenyan politics. A seasoned strategist, he has served as Speaker of the Senate and built strong networks with past regimes. His political trajectory suggests bigger ambitions—should he play his cards right.
Lusaka reclaimed the governor’s seat by unseating former Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, reaffirming his position as one of Bungoma’s most influential political actors.
