Undercover sting targets extortion countrywideÂ
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested four traffic police officers accused of soliciting and receiving bribes from motorists along the Nairobi–Nyeri–Embu Highway.
The swoop followed undercover operations mounted after complaints from motorists, matatu operators and truck drivers about rampant extortion on the busy route.
Those arrested include Georgina Syokau (service number 85527), Robert Mwenda (84890) and Gladys Cherono (105724), all attached to Makutano Traffic Base, together with Pauline Anyango (96947) from Juja Traffic Base.

The suspects were taken to the EACC’s Integrity Centre in Nairobi for interrogation and processing. They are expected to face corruption-related charges once investigations are concluded.
The arrests are part of a wider nationwide crackdown targeting rogue law enforcement officers and public officials accused of engaging in bribery and abuse of office.
