Governor James Orengo’s foresight and visionary leadership once again took center stage as Siaya County hosted a high-powered delegation of national leaders for a transformative Boda Boda Sacco Empowerment Fundraiser at the Siaya Medical Training Centre (KMTC) grounds.
The event brought together influential figures including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, State House operative Farouk Kibet, Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga, and other top dignitaries, in a clear show of unity and cooperation between national and county governments for the greater good of Siaya residents.

Governor James Orengo, who personally donated KSh 500,000, expressed gratitude to all the leaders and partners who have shown unwavering commitment to Siaya’s development agenda. He emphasized that the day’s event was not just about raising funds for the Boda Boda sector, but a reflection of his administration’s broader vision of inclusive empowerment and sustainable growth.
“We are building a Siaya that works for everyone — from the youth in the boda boda sector to our farmers, traders, and professionals. Development must be people-centered, and partnerships with the national government are key to unlocking our full potential,” Governor Orengo affirmed.
The Governor also used the occasion to invite leaders and investors to the upcoming Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference, scheduled for October 14–17, 2025, saying the forum will position Siaya as a regional investment hub and showcase the county’s readiness for global partnerships.
In his remarks, Deputy President Kindiki Kithure lauded Governor Orengo for embracing collaboration beyond political lines, describing him as “a pragmatic leader who understands that real progress is achieved through partnership, not polarization.”
Kindiki announced a raft of government-backed projects worth billions aimed at uplifting the livelihoods of Siaya residents. He revealed that:
The National Government has allocated KSh 3.1 billion for the Blue Economy, focusing on improving fish landing sites across Siaya, including Luanda Kotieno, which has already received KSh 134 million for modernization.
KSh 4.5 billion has been dedicated to the construction of 25 new fresh-produce markets across Ugenya, Bondo, and Alego Usonga constituencies, positioning Siaya as a commercial hub for Western Kenya.
KSh 1.5 billion will be invested in expanding electricity connections to households and businesses.
KSh 500 million has been set aside for the modernization of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium, aimed at nurturing sports talent and creating opportunities for the youth.
430,000 Siaya residents have already been enrolled in the Taifa Care health insurance scheme, ensuring access to affordable healthcare.
Kindiki further announced that President William Ruto will visit Siaya later this week to unveil multi-billion-shilling development projects as part of the Ruto–Raila national unity framework, signaling a new era of bipartisan collaboration for Kenya’s progress.
During the fundraiser, President Ruto sent a personal donation of KSh 3 million, Raila Odinga contributed KSh 2.5 million, Farouk Kibet gave KSh 1 million, Deputy President Kindiki contributed KSh 2 million, and Senator Oburu Odinga donated KSh 2 million, among other dignitaries who pledged their support.
Governor Orengo’s administration — famously dubbed “The Nyalore Government” — has earned national praise for aligning Siaya’s development blueprint with the Kenya Kwanza administration’s economic transformation agenda. His commitment to inclusive development, intergovernmental cooperation, and strategic foresight continues to position Siaya as a beacon of progress in Nyanza and beyond.
“Governor Orengo has demonstrated that development knows no party colors. His ability to bring State players, investors, and community leaders to one table is the kind of leadership Kenya needs,” remarked Senator Oburu Odinga.
As Siaya gears up for the International Trade and Investment Conference, the county stands on the threshold of a new chapter — one defined by growth, unity, and shared prosperity under the steady stewardship of Governor James Orengo.
