In a move offering fresh hope to hundreds of nursing trainees, the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) has announced a special re-sit window for candidates who failed the August 2025 Licensure Examination.
According to a notice released on Wednesday, November 5, the Council revealed that the re-sit will take place between February 17 and 20, 2026, giving unsuccessful candidates a valuable second chance to secure their professional certification.
“The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) wishes to inform candidates who were not successful in the August 2025 Licensure Examination that the Council has made a consideration for them to re-sit the examination between 17th and 20th February 2026,” the statement read.
The application period for the February re-sit will open on November 10 and close on December 31, 2025, offering candidates nearly two months to register and prepare.

The Council urged all affected candidates to begin preparing immediately to boost their chances of passing the crucial test this time around.
“Candidates are advised to prepare accordingly,” NCK emphasized, noting that additional details on the registration and examination process will be shared through its official platforms in due course.
The announcement comes just days after the release of the August 2025 Online Licensure Examination results, which were published via the Council’s portal — usp.nckenya.go.ke. Successful candidates were directed to log in and complete their registration details, while those who fell short were advised to take advantage of the re-sit opportunity.
The decision follows growing concern over the high failure rate recorded in recent examinations and comes amid heightened scrutiny of training standards in some nursing institutions across the country.
As the February 2026 re-sit window draws nearer, the NCK is urging candidates to remain vigilant for official updates and use the extra time to sharpen theirÀ preparation — a second shot that could determine their future in Kenya’s healthcare workforce.
