Siaya County Juakali Umbrella Association has once again taken its place on the regional stage, proudly participating in the 25th East African Community (EAC) Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Trade Fair at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.
The annual expo, themed “Advancing Innovation and Regional Value Chains for Competitive MSMEs Towards Sustainable Development,” brings together top innovators, artisans, and manufacturers from across the region. This year, the Siaya Juakali team is showcasing an impressive display of craftsmanship that has earned them a reputation as one of the most competitive delegations within the EAC circuit.
The association enters the 2024 Trade Fair with a remarkable track record. They were crowned First Runners-Up at last year’s edition in Juba, South Sudan, and secured 1st Place at the 2023 Trade Fair in Bujumbura, Burundi. Their consistency and creativity continue to position Siaya artisans among the region’s finest.
Renowned for high-quality, durable, and uniquely designed products, Siaya’s Juakali artisans have built a loyal following within and beyond Kenya. Their work—spanning metal fabrication, woodwork, innovative household items, agricultural implements, and artistic pieces—continues to draw admiration from judges, buyers, and fellow exhibitors.
According to the delegation, this year’s focus is on innovation, sustainability, and strengthening regional value chains. With global discourse shifting toward environmentally conscious production, the Siaya team believes their practical, community-driven solutions can inspire sustainable development across East Africa.
“We are here to showcase what Siaya can do and to prove that local talent, when supported, can compete at any level,” said one of the team’s representatives. “Our artisans have worked tirelessly and are ready to shine.”
