The 2025 KICOSCA Games are closing in explosive fashion, delivering upsets, heartbreaks, sensational comebacks, and history-making wins that have left crowds buzzing across Siaya. What began as a familiar battleground for defending champs has quickly morphed into one of the most unpredictable, drama-packed editions in recent memory.
This year, giants crumbled, underdogs roared, and new champions emerged—reshaping Kenya’s county sports landscape in a spectacular finale.
The biggest shock struck at Awelo Grounds, where volleyball kings Uasin Gishu, unbeaten for eight straight years, were finally toppled. Kiambu delivered the knockout blow in the playoffs, sending the former champions tumbling to position 3.

In a fiery men’s final, Nakuru rose to glory with a razor-thin 3–2 victory over Kiambu—sealing one of the tightest KICOSCA volleyball duels ever recorded.

Nairobi Men crushed Kisumu to claim the 2025 title.
Nairobi Women, however, were ambushed by breakout stars Vihiga Women, who stormed KICOSCA for the first time and snatched the trophy from Siaya’s three-year grip.

As hosts and former champions in multiple categories, Siaya County entered KICOSCA with high expectations—only to face a mix of glory, tension, and tough lessons.
Siaya, last year’s queens in handball, scrabble, and hammer throw, were bumped down to position 4 after a fierce playoff with Kisumu.
In scrabble (ladies), Nairobi dethroned Siaya, pushing the hosts to position 2.
Still, team captain Merceline Amuga battled her way to 3rd place out of 75, securing a prestigious spot at the EALASCA championships.

Debutant Sheila Amiso stunned spectators with an impressive run, backed by solid performances from Caroline Omondi, Diana Elsie Awuor, and Esther Amollo.
After obliterating Migori 20–0 in the quarters, Siaya fell to Narok 33–36 in the semis. They recovered brilliantly in the playoff:

In a tense showdown, Busia dethroned Siaya men, who settled for position 2.
Star thrower Willis Ang’awa ranked 4th out of 79, earning EALASCA qualification alongside teammate George Okello.
Kenya’s perennial darts maestro Patrick Miriti of Meru also dropped to position 2—another major upset.
Siaya men’s football team crashed out in the quarterfinals, edged out by defending champions Machakos on penalties.
In basketball, Turkana’s dream run ended at the semis, knocked out by Kisumu men, who later finished second.
Kisumu women dominated, beating Kisii to lift the women’s basketball crown.
Daybreak saw the track explode with energy as paralympic athletes and runners delivered some of the most emotional performances of the tournament. Finals continue tomorrow before the grand awards ceremony honoring the top three counties in each discipline.
