Luo Nation Told to Take Ruto’s Olive Branch as Siaya Woman Rep Hopeful Dorothy Oinga Gains Momentum

Siaya Woman Representative aspirant and Nominated MCA Dorothy Oinga has called on the Luo nation to embrace President William Samoei Ruto’s olive branch and support inclusion in the broad-based government, arguing that constructive engagement—not political isolation—offers the surest path to development.

Oinga was speaking in West Asembo, Rarieda Constituency, during the launch of the Last Mile Electrification Programme by Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, where she urged residents to prioritize unity, opportunity and national relevance.

“There comes a time when leadership demands pragmatism. Our people deserve a seat at the table where decisions are made,” Oinga said.

In remarks that resonated strongly with the crowd, Oinga said Siaya women are firmly behind CS Opiyo Wandayi, praising his track record in public service and national leadership. She suggested that the President should strongly consider Wandayi when reflecting on a future Deputy President choice, citing competence, experience and regional balance.

“Wandayi has delivered, and he understands the development needs of ordinary Kenyans,” she said.

Oinga also singled out Rarieda MP Paul Otiende Amolo for praise, describing him as one of the most brilliant legislators of his generation. She wished him well in future national responsibilities, including the possibility of appointment as Cabinet Secretary or Attorney General.

“Kenya needs principled leaders with legal depth and clarity of thought, such as Otiende Amolo. He’s a man who should be brought to the table if a pre-election coalition negotiating committee is formed,” she noted.

Beyond rhetoric, Oinga’s growing profile has been fuelled by her legislative boldness at the Siaya County Assembly. As a nominated MCA, she broke new ground by tabling a censure motion against the Acting County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Mr. George Nying’iro, over concerns surrounding conduct and accountability.

The move—widely viewed as unprecedented in Siaya politics—broke the culture of silence and positioned Oinga as a fearless oversight champion willing to challenge power in defence of public interest.

Political observers say the censure motion marked a turning point, significantly boosting her credibility and catapulting her popularity in the race for Siaya County Woman Representative.

Addressing her 2027 ambitions, Oinga said the affirmative action seat must deliver real dividends to the grassroots. She argued that women, youth, persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups must tangibly benefit through access to opportunities, resources and empowerment programmes.

“This office must not be ceremonial. It must change lives at the village level,” she said.

Oinga concluded by urging voters to remain vigilant and make informed choices ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying Siaya needs leaders who can combine courage, competence and national influence.

Dorothy Oinga boasts of exposure and extensive networking

With her legislative record, growing grassroots appeal and bold national outlook, Dorothy Oinga is fast emerging as one of the most formidable contenders in Siaya’s evolving political landscape.
