In a fiery appearance on Siaya’s premier talk show HARD TALK, seasoned governance expert Auscar Odhiambo Wambiya has declared war on cartels plaguing Siaya town, branding their unchecked operations as a glaring symptom of failed leadership.
The aspiring Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Siaya Township Ward in the 2027 elections pulled no punches, highlighting loopholes in procurement processes and the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) as enablers of rampant corruption. “Where you see cartels thriving, it’s a clear sign of poor leadership,” Wambiya asserted, vowing to plug these gaps if elected.
Drawing from over two decades at the core of Siaya’s government machinery, Wambiya outlined an ambitious blueprint to resurrect the town’s fortunes. He pledged to revolutionize waste management, including robust sewer and garbage collection systems, to end the era of Siaya being dismissed as a “one-horse whistle stop.”
His vision extends further: transforming Siaya into a buzzing 24-hour economy through smart legislation and active participation in the County Assembly. “I’ll bring proven experience to deliver real change,” he said, emphasizing his track record in public service.
A family man married with five children, Wambiya’s credentials are impeccable. He served five years as a manager in the office of Alego-Usonga MP Omondi Muluan, followed by another five as Director of Information and Chief of Staff under former Governor Cornel Rasanga Amoth during the dawn of devolution.
Today, as President of Milestones Consultants – a leading firm in strategy, leadership, and development – Wambiya continues community-driven work through volunteer initiatives and organizations like Rafiki wa Maendeleo Trust. Holder of a Master’s in Development Studies, he positions himself as the experienced insider Siaya needs to combat inefficiency and drive growth.
When pressed on his party ticket for the 2027 race, Wambiya remained strategic, noting it was “too early for definitive choices” – though recent reports link him to the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party, heating up the Siaya Township contest.
His slogan “Siaya town Nyaka Koro bed Town” (Siaya town must be transformed into a modern metropolis) resonates with many.
