The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) has handed a lifeline to thousands of nursing students who did not pass the August 2025 licensure examination, announcing fresh re-sit dates and strict application timelines.
In a notice released on Wednesday, December 10, the Council confirmed that unsuccessful candidates will get another opportunity to sit the exam between February 17 and 20, 2026.
“The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) wishes to inform candidates who were not successful in the August 2025 Licensure Examination that the Council has made a consideration for them to re-sit the examination between 17th and 20th February 2026,” the statement read.
The NCK announced that applications for the February 2026 re-sit opened on November 10 and will officially close on December 31, 2025 — giving candidates a limited window to prepare and submit their paperwork.
“The application period… will run from 10th November to 31st December 2025. Candidates are advised to prepare accordingly,” the Council added.
NCK further indicated that additional instructions, exam guidelines, and logistical details will be shared via its official communication platforms in the coming weeks.
Alongside the re-sit announcement, NCK also issued fresh guidelines for certificate collection in a separate notice dated December 5.
Candidates who passed the previous licensure exams must collect their certificates in person at NCK offices. Required documents include:
Original National ID or passport
A valid NCK practice licence
The Council emphasized that certificates become available 30 days after registration, and successful candidates may download their practice licences from the NCK Portal within 48 working hours of registration.
However, NCK has introduced a strict rule: no third-party collection is allowed unless the candidate appears in person to authorize a representative.
