The Government is set to inject a fresh KSh3 billion into small businesses across Kenya under the Nyota Programme, marking a major step in its push to empower grassroots entrepreneurs and stimulate economic growth.
At a high-level briefing held at State House, Nairobi, officials reviewed the progress of the programme’s business support component ahead of the nationwide launch of the second disbursement scheduled for Friday.
The new tranche will benefit 122,000 entrepreneurs, each receiving KSh25,000 to scale up their enterprises. This follows an earlier disbursement issued earlier this year, bringing the total support per beneficiary to KSh50,000.
The initiative is part of a broader government strategy to strengthen micro and small enterprises, which form the backbone of Kenya’s economy. Officials noted that the funds are expected to significantly boost business resilience, enhance productivity, and create employment opportunities at the community level.
Crucially, all beneficiaries have already undergone a comprehensive business development skills programme, equipping them with essential knowledge in financial management, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. This training is aimed at ensuring the funds translate into tangible business growth and long-term economic impact.
Friday’s launch will be conducted simultaneously across 18 venues nationwide, bringing together beneficiaries from all 47 counties in a coordinated effort to ensure equitable access and national reach.
The Nyota Programme continues to gain momentum as a flagship intervention targeting youth and small-scale entrepreneurs, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to inclusive economic empowerment and grassroots development.
With the second tranche rollout, expectations are high that thousands of businesses will expand, incomes will rise, and communities will experience renewed economic vitality driven from the bottom up.
