Siaya County’s youth have received a major boost through a new empowerment programme launched by the Chief Officer for Gender, Youth Affairs, and Social Services, Madam Judith Oyugi.
Youth empowerment is about giving young people the tools, skills, and confidence to take charge of their lives and create positive change
Hon. Rose Rabinya today represented MCA of South East Alego Ward Hon Masidis in an official opening of a Youth Empowerment Program at Bar Ogong’o.
Youths are happy, the program is very important and should be done across all the Wards in Siaya County since it equips the Youths with Life skills and Business among other things.
The power of the youth is immense. When empowered, they can bring about transformation and serious progress.
The five-day training, held at Bar Ongongo Chief’s Camp, is set to conclude this Saturday.
Running under the banner “Jitume, Jitambue, Jiajiri”, the initiative aims to equip over 100 youths from South East Alego with essential skills including personal development, digital literacy, content creation, and mentorship for long-term growth.
Participants will be linked to experienced mentors to support the sustainability of their ventures.
Madam Oyugi emphasized the need for young people to explore the many opportunities available through both national and county government programmes. She raised concern over the trend of youth engaging in political spaces that often prove counterproductive, urging them to instead channel their energy into constructive pathways.
She extended heartfelt thanks to stakeholders supporting the programme, including Globcom, Siaya Muungano Network, and other NGOs that continue to champion youth-led initiatives in the region.
This initiative marks a significant step in nurturing a generation ready to lead, innovate, and uplift their communities.
The program is a brainchild of Madam Scholastica Masidis Madowo, MCA South East Alego Ward.
