A dramatic swoop by detectives from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) has ended the run of a suspected drug trafficker in Bakarani, Kisauni Sub-County, with a stash of heroin worth thousands of shillings pulled out of his hideout.
The suspect, 45-year-old Abdalla Said Omar, was ambushed at his rented house following days of surveillance and precise intelligence leads. In the raid, officers unearthed 300 grammes of heroin stuffed in red and green carrier bags, each bundle meticulously sealed in clear cellotape to evade detection.
Also recovered were two digital weighing scales, the tell-tale tools of the illicit trade, believed to have aided in portioning the narcotics for distribution to the streets of Mombasa.
Omar, described by investigators as a “key link” in the local supply chain, is cooling his heels at Mjambere Police Station as detectives finalise a watertight file to be presented in court. He is expected to face serious trafficking charges once arraigned.
Security sources say the arrest is part of a wider crackdown targeting drug cartels feeding addiction in the coastal belt, with Kisauni flagged as one of the hardest-hit hotspots.
