Siaya gubernatorial hopeful Nicolas Gumbo has intensified his 2027 campaign groundwork after convening a high-level consultative forum with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) officials from all six wards of Gem Constituency.

The strategic meeting, held at Kayieye Community Hall in West Gem Ward, brought together key party operatives and grassroots mobilizers in a renewed push to solidify ODM’s structures and reconnect the party with its support base across Siaya County.

At the heart of the deliberations was a clear agenda: rebuild, energize, and expand ODM’s grassroots machinery. Leaders underscored the urgency of strengthening ward and village-level networks, enhancing coordination, and ensuring the party remains firmly anchored in the aspirations of ordinary wananchi.

Participants explored bold strategies to boost membership recruitment, revive dormant party units, and nurture a new generation of leaders. The forum emphasized unity, inclusivity, and collective responsibility as critical pillars for sustaining ODM’s political dominance in its traditional strongholds.

The meeting also mapped out preparations for a series of upcoming political activities expected to shape the county’s political trajectory ahead of the 2027 general election. Leaders called for consistent engagement with residents, improved organization, and a proactive approach to addressing community concerns.

Speaking during the session, Gumbo reaffirmed his loyalty to ODM’s ideals, stressing that transformative leadership must be rooted in service, accountability, and people-centered development.

“Lasting change can only be achieved when leaders stay connected to the grassroots and work hand in hand with the people,” he said, urging party members to remain united and focused.

Gumbo rallied ODM officials to embrace teamwork and mutual respect, noting that political strength lies in cohesion and a shared vision. He challenged leaders to uphold the values that have defined ODM while adapting to emerging realities on the ground.

The consultative forum ended with renewed resolve among party officials to fortify ODM’s presence across Gem and contribute to a broader vision of a united and progressive Siaya.

As the race to succeed the current county leadership begins to take shape, Gumbo is steadily positioning himself as a formidable contender—banking on grassroots mobilization, institutional strengthening, and inclusive development.

With momentum building across the county, his latest engagement signals a calculated strategy: consolidate the base, energize the grassroots, and present himself as the candidate of unity and transformation.

If the Kayieye meeting is anything to go by, the battle for Siaya’s top seat has quietly but decisively begun.
