Siaya County is witnessing a renewed push for grassroots economic empowerment as Siaya Woman Representative aspirant Achieng Masawa joined Siaya gubernatorial aspirant Eng. Nicolas Gumbo Wajonya at the home of the late prominent NyaUgenya entrepreneur, Mzee Okoth Raph, to rally support for women-led economic initiatives.

The engagement brought together members of the Ameda Women Economic Group, a growing umbrella network that brings together hundreds of grassroots women leaders from across Siaya County.

The group is driving practical community-based enterprises, including table banking, catering services, and the hiring out of tents and chairs, creating opportunities for women to build sustainable incomes, strengthen household livelihoods, and grow their collective financial base.

Speaking during the empowerment event, Achieng Masawa underscored the need for women to embrace a cooperative entrepreneurial mindset, noting that collective investment, skills development, and financial inclusion are critical to building resilient communities.

Masawa reaffirmed that, if elected as Siaya Woman Representative, her agenda will be anchored on three key pillars: Economic Emancipation, Food Security, and Capacity Development.
