JAOKO OBURU ODINGA SIAYA GOVERNOR 2027 — Mbele Iko Sawa,” splashed with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) colours and slogans. Viral posts on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and X claim the son of Siaya Senator and ODM Acting Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga Odinga — and nephew to the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga — is gearing up to challenge incumbent Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo in the 2027 General Election. Some even declare him “confident of securing the ODM ticket unopposed,” with captions like “James Orengo byeee.”
The poster is real and spreading rapidly. Posts from late January 2026 frame it as an official launch, with one X update bluntly stating: “Jaoko Oburu Odinga will face Governor James Orengo in the race for Siaya governor.” But does the evidence back the claim?
