A surging wave of political defiance swept through Vihiga County as leaders aligned to the Linda Mwananchi movement staged a bold and high-octane rally, sending a clear message that they will not bow to intimidation.
The charged gathering, marked by energetic crowds and fiery speeches, saw a coalition of prominent opposition figures rally support while condemning what they described as a growing culture of political harassment and violence.
At the centre of the storm was Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, who addressed supporters with visible resolve following a recent attack in Kisumu. Osotsi linked the incident to his outspoken political positions, including calls for broader opposition unity and leadership accountability. He vowed to remain steadfast, declaring that no amount of intimidation would derail his ambitions or silence his voice.
The rally attracted a formidable lineup of political heavyweights, underscoring the movement’s growing influence. Among those present were Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Saboti MP Caleb Amisi. Their presence signaled a coordinated push to consolidate support across key regions.
Sifuna took aim at what he termed as worsening insecurity targeting dissenting leaders, warning that such tactics would only embolden the movement. His remarks were echoed by Orengo, who delivered a characteristically hard-hitting address urging Kenyans to demand accountability and resist complacency in the face of governance challenges.
The political caravan snaked through key trading centres, drawing large crowds and amplifying the movement’s message of resistance and reform. Organisers framed the Vihiga tour as part of a broader nationwide mobilisation drive aimed at building momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election.
With its defiant tone and growing grassroots appeal, the Linda Mwananchi movement appears determined to reshape the political conversation—turning Vihiga into the latest battleground in an increasingly heated contest for the country’s future.
