Kisii Governor Simba Arati has denied a section of media claim allegations where he is quoted to have warned DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua not to step foot in Kisii County.
Simba Arati who doubles as one of the ODM Party Vice-chairmen is said to have told off Gachagua calling him names referring to his trade slogan on President William Ruto’s administration as WANTAM.
Speaking at an event in Kisii County the Governor said media misquoted him as he only called for the DCP Party leader to ensure one of their own (referring to former Interior Minister Fred Matiangi) is on the table if he wants their vote as a community.
He has always maintained that only Raila Odinga can tell them where to go politically, but his political tone appears to have taken a different direction altogether.
Arati, a vibrant political firebrand has metamorphosed political from a nominated Nairobi County Councillor before the promulgation of the new Constitution.
He was first nominated on an ODM ticket by Raila Odinga at Nairobi City county Assembly. Before then he was just doing a small kiosk grocery business within Nairobi little estate Riruta Satellite.
He was an MCA before ran for Member of Parliament in Nairobi’s Dagoretti North Constituency where he was MP between 2012 to 2017.
After two terms in the metropolis Simba Arati changed his electoral area vying in the Kisii gubernatorial race where he emerged winner with a landslide defeating a battery of old guard politicians by garnering over 270,928 votes against his closest rival UDA Party’s Ezekiel Machogu who got 82,104 votes.
Arati, who pundits concur is a grassroots mobilizer and a man-of-the-people has come along way and prospects look even brighter in the ODM Party where he is Number Two in the Party hierarchy. He is also said to be a close confidante of ODM Party boss and former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga.
With the fast-changing political dynamics in the country particularly new alignments developing in Gusii-land it will be interesting to see whether Arati remains steadfast in his support for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
