The war on narcotics has intensified after Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) detectives netted a major drug trafficker and seized bhang worth approximately Sh11.6 million in a series of coordinated operations across Nakuru and Keiyo South.
In Nakuru, ANU detectives, working closely with officers from the Police Dog Unit, acted on credible intelligence to intercept a silver Toyota Voxy (registration KBN 486Z) along the busy Kabarak–Nakuru Road. The operation dealt a significant blow to an illicit drug supply chain targeting urban and peri-urban markets.
While the driver narrowly escaped, detectives swiftly arrested the co-driver, Dennis Mukungua. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered a staggering 12 green sacks and 12 bales of bhang, weighing 387 kilograms. The suspect, together with the impounded vehicle and narcotics, was escorted to the police station where he is being processed ahead of arraignment.
In a separate but equally decisive operation in Keiyo South, detectives teamed up with officers from Metkei Police Station to intercept a Toyota Fielder (registration KDV 627S) in Kapchorwa area, Kamwosor Location. The vehicle, driven by Vincent Odhiambo, was found to be ferrying seven bags of bhang, leading to his immediate arrest. He was also taken to Metkei Police Station as investigations continue.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks through sustained, intelligence-led operations and multi-agency collaboration. Authorities have issued a stern warning that traffickers will face the full force of the law—regardless of status or influence.
