Two notorious fraudsters behind the circulation of fake Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2025 result slips are now in police custody following a high-level crackdown by detectives.
The suspects, Albert Kerry Nyadianga and David Opiyo, alias G.O.A.T, were arrested for their alleged role in the false publication and fabrication of KCSE results that had been circulating widely across social media platforms, duping anxious candidates and unsuspecting parents.
Operating like seasoned conmen casting bait in troubled waters, the duo allegedly preyed on desperation, promising “upgraded” KCSE grades—for a fee. With bold confidence, they claimed they could alter official KNEC result slips, selling false hope to vulnerable families.
However, their elaborate scheme unravelled after DCI officers on secondment at the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) mounted a meticulous intelligence-led operation. In a coordinated swoop, Nyadianga was arrested in Kisumu, while his alleged accomplice Opiyo was cornered in Ongata Rongai.
Investigations so far indicate that Opiyo is the alleged mastermind behind the syndicate. Shockingly, he is said to be a primary school teacher who leveraged his credibility to run the scam. Detectives revealed that he commands an online following of over 45,200 members through a misleading social media group brazenly branded “KCSE 2025 Grade Upgrading.”
Further digital forensics uncovered his involvement in several other online forums linked to examination fraud, including KNEC Legit Papers and Upgrading, Group Booster Support, KNEC/KASNEB/ICM/CDA, and KNEC Grade Editing, among others.
A forensic search of the suspects’ mobile phones yielded images of forged KCSE result slips and other examination-related materials, strengthening the case against them and exposing the depth of the alleged fraud.
The two are currently being held in police custody as detectives finalize investigations ahead of their arraignment in court.
In a strong warning to the public, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), working closely with KNEC, reiterated that KCSE results are secure, tamper-proof, and cannot be altered through brokers, middlemen, or online “grade upgraders.”
Authorities have also confirmed that investigations are ongoing to net more suspects believed to be part of a wider academic fraud network operating online.
